- The deadline for current coaches to have a Basketball Ireland Coaching licence is set for the last day of November 2024. All coaches wishing to coach in Basketball Ireland competitions during season 2024/25 must have a licence by this date after such time any coach without a coaching licence will not be able to coach in BI national competitions - including AICC and Underage national cups.
- After this date coach licences will only be issued to newly qualified coaches and coaches moving to Ireland from other countries.
Without a coaching licence any coach coaching in Basketball Ireland competitions would not be covered by BI insurance and is not considered eligible to act as a coach in any Basketball Ireland competitions.
To get a free coaching licence please visit the coach licencing section of the Basketball Ireland website and follow the instructions. Please note that a coaching licence is different to being registered with basketball Ireland. To get a free coaching licence a coach must be qualified through sports Ireland, Garda vetted, registered with Basketball Ireland and have completed a child safeguarding course (available for booking on Helpside).
